Christmas Eve 1990

Medway, MA
The McCrossans celebrated Christmas Eve on Wellington Street in Medfield in 1990,
just three months short of Gregory's arrival to complete the family!

during the summer of 2003.

"Dancing with Nature"
1999

It's Valentine's Day, 1999:
Daniel films Greg's first edition of "Greg's Corner"
which features Caroline on piano playing an original song.

The Canavan Family
1941

Ambrose Canavan loved to take movies of his family,
with smiling, walking people being one of his signature shots.
In order: Agnes & Ambrose, Richard & Mary, Barbara & Regina.

Easter at Brooks Street

Marchand, Canavan, and Curran cousins gathered
in Cranston for Easter in the 60s.
Here we are playing in Grammy's side yard, fielding Uncle Reggie's golf balls.

Curran Cousins

Here are a few random clips from around 1961
including Springvale Road, Roosevelt Ave. with the Curran cousins,
and a glimpse of the Turners' home in Worcester.

Easter in Somerset

The Marchands hosted this Easter in 1960 for the Currans and Canavans.
This footage features a classic Easter Parade of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The second clip is also in Somerset shot on the day of Bonnie's First Holy Communion.
(I tried narrating this movie and I added a sound track from 1960- Duane Eddy's "Because They're Young.")

Brooks Street Dinner

The Canavans, Marchands, and Currans all came together
for a dinner at Grammy's house in Cranston.
It's nice to see Ambrose in front of the camera looking so handsome and happy!

Kevin's First Communion 1962

All dressed in white, Kevin received his First Holy Communion at St. Catherine's in 1962.
Outside the church, you'll see Marty, Barbara, Kathy, Nana, Grammy, Papie, and Regina.
Back at Springvale Road, the extended family gathered in the backyard to celebrate.
Check out Rich, Timmy, Laurie, Uncle Tom and Helen, Reggie, Mary, Paul, Bobby, Bonnie, and Mary Beth.
Not to be missed: The adults lined up on the back steps and Nana posing with a baseball bat at the very end!

Cousins in Hyannis

Here's some footage from the late fifties shot on Cape Cod by our attentive grandfather, Ambrose Canavan.
You can enjoy the sight of Reggie wrestling with Bobby and Paul on the lawn as well as
Ambrose's signature shot of the cousins (Paul, Bobby, Kevin, Kathy) walking toward the camera.
Marty and Barbara pack up the wagon, and Grammy and Regina say goodbye on the porch.

Mothers and Grandmothers

This movie was shot at Grace and Ted Curtin's wedding at St. Catherine's in Norwood.
It starts with my beautiful Aunt Mary in the flower garden in Cranston.
Then there's a brief glimpse of Barbara on the stairs and even more fleeting glimpses of Marty and Tom.
The thrill for me is seeing this rare footage of my two grandmothers together!

Those Dancing Currans

This is one of Papie's home movies from about 1960 taken in Cranston, Rhode Island, at 59 Brooks Street.
Richard is the youngster at the beginning and end, Kevin, Kathy and Marty show off their dancing skills,
and Aunt Regina, Barbara, Ambrose and Agnes are at the dining room table.

Now and Forever

My grandfather, Ambrose Canavan, came from a family of musicians and artists.
In addition to playing the piano and organ his entire life,
he printed photographs in his home darkroom and lovingly documented his family on 8mm film.
It was an emotional journey down memory lane when I came across this footage of Kevin and me at ages one and two and a half

Bridge Street Sing-Along circa 1992

Steve is playing on the old McCrossan upright,
accompanying Colleen Turner, Jamie Thaxter, Neil Curran, and Kathy
on a wide range of songs including "Your Song," "Lonely Teardrops," and yes, finally, "Amazing Grace."
